DOUBLE SILEX HUNTING RIFLE with round, flattened, thunderbol - Lot 232
DOUBLE SILEX HUNTING RIFLE with round, flattened, thunderbolt barrels. Lock plates signed "SOVICHE LE CADET" and flat-bodied hammers. The ramrod and trigger guard are decorated with hunting trophies and foliage, ramrod loops, blank thumb piece and opening buttplate in silver. The walnut stock is partially checkered with a green morocco cheekpiece (part of the braid is missing), and "BOUCHON" hallmark (added in the 19th century). Length: 120 cm. A.B.E. (Worn), circa 1760-1780. Benoit SOVICHE (the younger): harquebusier and merchant in Saint-Etienne (Loire) in 1770-1783. Expert Arnaud de Gouvion Saint Cyr.
