Low-titled gold-lined round burr box mounted in vermeil, the lid inlaid with a miniature painted in gouache on paper depicting the bosquet des bains d'Apollon (Apollo's baths grove) including the sculptures from the grotto of Théthys built by Louis XIV in the gardens of the Château de Versailles in 1666. In the foreground are King Louis XVI, Queen Marie Antoinette, the Dauphin and Madame Royale, held by the hand of Madame de Tourzel. Minor cracks and knocks. Foreign work from the late 18th century.
