CLEMENCEAU (Georges) (1841-1929) AUTOGRAPHIC... - Lot 245 - Pichon & Noudel-Deniau (Azur Enchères)
CLEMENCEAU (Georges) (1841-1929) AUTOGRAPHIC LETTER SIGNED to General Michel Alexandre Gaston Tournier (1849-1928), Paris, 29 December 1924. 1 p ½. In-4. Unpublished letter. Provenance family of General Tournier. Amazing and moving letter in which he thanks the general for his good wishes, sends him his own and continues "... I see with pleasure that you are a philosopher, since you are getting closer to the earth, as I do myself before (that) I (return) to it. I have a little patch of sand by the sea in the Vendée where I grow beautiful flowers. The misfortune is that tidal waves and storms take a piece of it away from time to time. But by dint of masonry I hope to hold on until my last day. I write, as you may have guessed. But they are not memoirs (...) I am content with a simple work of philosophy that no one will read and that will not be published until long after my death (...)" Publication of his philosophical work Au soir de la pensée in 1927 Expert | Céline BERTIN
