Important kiss of Peace with cast silver and gilt plaque in a repoussé silver frame depicting the Emmaus Pilgrims. Architectural frame with fluted pilasters, quatrefoil frieze, pediment adorned with the Veil of St. Veronica, reclining putti on the ramps, base inscribed PAX VOBIS (Peace be with you), coat of arms with trefoil cross. Marks illegible. Northern Italy, Piedmont, 16th century Height: 22.8 cm - Width: 15.6 cm Gross weight: 932 g (missing putto head and handle, drill hole on back, slight accidents and deformations) The trefoil cross on the lower part of the cabochon may allude to the Duchy of Savoy.
