Small octagonal Butterfield silver sundial with bird gnomon. The hour scales (43, 46, 49, 52 degrees) are written in Roman or Arabic numerals. Very fine engraving, especially on the gnomon, the spring and the center of the plate. The compass is divided into 16 sections and on the back are the latitudes of 26 European cities such as London, Lille, Brussels, Calais, Bordeaux, Marseille, La Rochelle, Brest, Rouen, Paris, Strasbourg, Basle, Vienne, Lyon, Signed "BUTTEFIELD APARIS". With small fleur-de-lys mark (discharge mark of the City of Paris for small objects between 1697 and 1704). In its red-lined black chagrin case.
