JEAN GAUTIER in Paris No. 1592 Mid 18th century Silver carriage watch with striking and alarm function and leather-covered protective cover. Round case on hinge, finely chased with interlacing and foliage decoration, triple square winding mechanism on back with S (Sonnerie), M (Mouvement) and R (Réveil). White enamel dial with stylized hands, Arabic numerals for hours and minutes, third hand for setting the alarm function, beaded minute track. Movement with key winding, verge escapement, chased and pierced cock, spiral balance, spindle and chain, adjusting disc, striking on gong, signature on plate. A silvered metal bail chain is included.
