17th century FLEMISH school, David Vinckboons' workshop The preaching of Saint John the Baptist Panel painted on the reverse, one board, not parqueted Height : 47,3 cm Width : 68,1 cm Label on the back of the gallery Leger Son of 1955 19th century frame in wood and gilded stucco small raises Reprise of a composition of Vinckboons known by other copies of workshop, including one in Warsaw, Muzeum Narodowe. Another close one, with many variants (as circle of Sebastien Vrancx) in the Royal Palace of Roseborg in Copenhagen. Provenance : Leonard P. LEE Collection (1903-1980) Leonard Pelham Lee (1903-1980) was an English industrialist from Coventry, owner of the company Coventry Climax founded in 1903 by his father Henry Pelham Lee (1877-1953) whom he succeeded in the late 1930s, specializing in the manufacture of various engines for cars including Morgan, Triumph, Standard and fire engines.
